Dr Simon Johnson, Chief Technologist in HealthTech at CPI, which is part of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult in the UK, In his current role Simon acts as a knowledge expert in HealthTech device development, supporting strategic and development activities at CPI. While at CPI Simon has developed the electronics design and integration team to provide product design capability in the field of flexible and structural electronic systems. He has led the development of processes for the assembly of hybrid flexible electronic systems including printed sensors, wireless sensor systems and roll to roll circuit design. In previous roles as an academic at the University of Durham and also in industry, Simon has worked in many aspects of electronics from electronic device and IC development to electronic systems design and software development. He has published in electronic device failures and electronic test and has developed new electronic products for a wide range of industries. Simon studied Physics with Microelectronics at the University of Leicester, a Master of Engineering in IC Design at Durham followed by a PhD in IC Failure Mechanisms.
